Application process: RENO U736 CONNECT

Quick Application Steps (On-Site Guide)

  • Prepare: Ensure cracks/joints and substrate are clean, dry and suitably primed
  • Apply base layer: Spread mortar, epoxy or adhesive across repair zone
  • Install: Position pre-cut fleece sheets and embed into wet layer
  • Overlap: Ensure 5–10 cm overlap where multiple sheets are required
  • Finish: Allow to set before continuing with floor installation

1. Subfloor preparation

Proper groundwork is essential for effective crack bridging:

  • Substrates must be firm, dry and free from dust, grease and contaminants
  • Remove weak layers, coatings and residues using mechanical preparation methods
  • Thoroughly vacuum all loose particles
  • Dense or non-porous surfaces should be mechanically abraded and cleaned
  • Apply a compatible primer where required depending on the system used

Substrates must meet site standards and be ready for bonding before installation.

2. Crack and joint preparation

  • Cracks up to 0.3 mm can be treated without opening
  • Cracks ≥0.3 mm should be mechanically opened and cleaned
  • Remove all dust using industrial vacuum equipment
  • Larger cracks (>1 mm) may require structural verification before repair
  • Ensure joints are free from debris and loose material

Correct preparation ensures proper fleece integration and long-term performance.

3. Application

  • Apply a thin, even layer of chosen system (repair mortar, epoxy or SMP/PU adhesive) at least 30 cm either side of the crack
  • Place pre-cut fleece sheets (0.8 × 0.6 m) perpendicular to the crack direction
  • Press firmly across the entire surface to ensure full contact
  • Apply additional material over the fleece to completely encapsulate it
  • Maintain overlaps of 5–10 cm where sheets meet
  • Allow the system to set before proceeding with subsequent layers

Designed to reinforce cracks and accommodate movement across different substrates without resin injection.

4. Drying & curing

  • Allow the base material (mortar, resin or adhesive) to cure before continuing

Typical next steps:

  • Proceed with levelling compound or floor installation once set
  • Refer to the corresponding system (mortar/resin/adhesive) for curing times

5. Underfloor heating

  • Switch off heating systems 48 hours before, during, and for at least 48 hours after installation
  • Gradually bring heating back up to operating temperature after curing

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Not preparing cracks adequately before installation
  • Incorrect orientation of fleece (must be perpendicular to crack)
  • Insufficient overlap between sheets
  • Incomplete embedment or exposed fleece
  • Applying onto contaminated or dusty substrates
  • Skipping primer where required
  • Applying outside recommended temperature range (+15°C to +30°C)
